Trail Nr2: Akamas Loop
A scenic route through forest, seaside and some old villages
Akamas is a 230 Square Kilometre nature reserve famously featured in Sir David Attenborough‘s 2006 Documentary Titled after the areas name. Akamas is one of the stunningly scenic regions of Cyprus, it features a forest mountain range stretching along the sea side allowing you to start your ride in the mountain forest and finish along the beach. The Akamas Loop has three alternative routes (Hard, Medium & Easy) ranging from 690 Meters to 1200 Meters of elevation. The Loop starts at Akavas Gorge climbing in to Pegia Forrest where you ride the mountain ridge until the most northwest point of Cyprus where you descend to the beach level following the Akamas Coastline all the way back to Akavas Gorge.

Notes: Depending on which option you choose, this can be a ride for every skill level. Hard and Medium start with a steep technical climb but once you reach the village of Arodes it gets a little more flat. After the peak there are some nice and fast forest downhill sections albeit not to technical, so you can have some fun. This trail offers a nice mix of environments to ride through.
