iRig BlueTurn Review

iRig BlueTurn

Hello friends and readers, unfortunately I don’t have time to do all the reviews I would like to do but today is one of those days where I just must write a review for a little gem I found recently. As some of you know I am a hobby musician and play a regular gig with a buddy in a local Irish Pub. I have been struggling with my big fingers and the little button on my tablet that starts the backing tracks for my songs. Also, I was never a fan of looking on my tablet and looking for the next song in between breaks, so naturally I looked for a page turning pedal that would help me with this. So, I googled the subject a bit and coincidentally my local music store posted a photo of their new iRig showcase which also featured the BlueTurn pedal. Now my lyric app of choice is the “Setlist Helper” and the main reason I took the time to write this review is because I could not find anywhere on the internet if BlueTurn is compatible with the setlist Helper and the answer is YES… it is compatible with Setlist helper. Now don’t go anywhere read the review and leave a comment ?

Built Quality

The iRig BlueTurn is made from plastic but it does have a good and sturdy feel. I am around 90KG’s and I am not worried of accidentally putting some extra weight on it, although I doubt it would survive my full weight. ( I wont try to find out )
Speed, Connectivity and Features
I paired the BlueTurn pedal with my Samsung Tablet which only took a minute or two, once the two where paired connecting them is a dream. From the moment I switch on the pedal it takes around 15 – 25 seconds to connect to the tablet and to be ready for use. The response time of the pedal seems to be immediate, I have set the 1st pedal to skip to the next page and the 2nd pedal to start/stop the songs as I use backing tracks as well this starts the scrolling and the backing track.
A big plus are the luminated pedals, Gigs are sometimes quite dark so this really helps (especially after a couple of pints)

Battery Life

iRig BlueTurn takes 2 AAA batteries. I have been using the pedal for a good 8 weeks now. I usually play 1-2 3hr gigs a week so we are 30hrs in and the battery still seems to be going well. Ill update the article with the total time once it runs out.

(Update)

So I have been using the iRig BlueTurn for a few months now and the battery life is really good. The battery lasts so long that I forget the last time i changed it so I always keep a spare set in my gig bag.

Do I recommend it?

Yes absolutely, it is cheaper than the other pedals I found out there. It is very well built and well worth the money. Its small and easily fits in your gig bag and is very easy to use and connect. All in all
