Details of Crime:
Paul Bernardo & Karla Homolka where a true match made in hell. During December of 1990, Paul Bernardo convinced Karla to drug and rape her younger sister Tammy Homolka who was 16 years old at the time. Tammy Homolka woke during the rape and became sick and died. Paul and Karla covered up the evidence of the incident and called an Ambulance. The cause of death was noted as “choking on her on vomit” and no further question were raised. The death of Tammy sparked a murder/rape frenzie. The couple abducted, raped and murdered young girls and then disposed of them by cementing them into barrels and dropping them into lakes.
When the couple was finally caught Karla was assumed to be a victim of Paul Bernard and in exchange for her testimony against him received a lighter sentence. It was not till after the trial that tapes were found that showed Karla Homolka actively participating in the rapes and drugging of the victims. Dude to double jeopardy Karla could not be tried again and was released on the 4th of July 2005.
Imprisonment and Release:
Karla Homolka served a total of 12 years in prison and was released in 2005. Following her release she changed her name and moved. However people have found her whereabouts and groups are dedicated to monitoring her every move.
